Step into a timeless Ukrainian folk tale with The Legend of the Dipper, a beautifully illustrated picture book by Dzvinka Hayda, celebrates kindness, courage, and the magic of giving. When young Katrusya journeys far from home to fetch water for her ailing mother, her selfless generosity transforms an ordinary dipper into a lasting celestial legend.

This retelling of Carolyn Sherwin Bailey’s classic “The Legend of the Dipper” is brought to life with Ukrainian names, traditions, and vibrant acrylic illustrations reminiscent of patchwork quilts and floral fabrics. Both heartfelt and inspiring, it’s a story children will return to again and again, one that reminds us of the rewards of kindness and love.
